Online therapy may sound intimidating if you've never tried it. Whilst most psychotherapists tried it for the first time during the Covid-19 epidemic, I had already undergone training and accreditation in how to bring my therapy room to the client instead of the client having to travel to see me. One of the big advantages of working online is that you only have to set aside an hour of your day to be heard and feel safe. Many of my clients talk to me from a meeting room at work, using headphones to block out extraneous sounds. Others speak from home while alone or occasionally from their cars or even in a park if that's the safest private space they can find. The key is a quiet place where you can concentrate.

While my expertise lies in working with musicians, because knowing the music world inside out saves time in sessions and enables us both to reach your truth in the first session, I do also work with many people from all walks of life.

As a fomer managing director and a charity trustee I have sound experience to offer those suffering in the workplace. Another area of special interest and of ongoing research is into long-term health conditions, such as ME/CFS, Long Covid and Fibromyalgia where the diagnosis is "contested" so that there is often no defined treatment plan. I also have a personal interest in cancer - along with 50% of the population. I like working with survivors as well as those around them who are impacted by the disease. Here the existential philosophy which underpins my initial training comes into play. I believe it is possible to transcend pain and fear in order to live life to the full.

I am on the approved list of many insurers including WPA, AXA and BUPA International to name but a few.

I am now located in west Wiltshire so the limited hours I offer in the City are at a premium. My BAPAM clients who need to see me face-to-face will be given priority, but I shall still endeavour to fit new clients into the schedule.

Secondly I am scaling back my London visits so I may only be available once a fortnight. Some insurers specify weekly therapy which in my opinion is not appropriate for everyone. I also do not guarantee a session at the same time and/or the same day each week.

BUPA doesn't fund couples' counselling. If one of you is insured by BUPA, I am happy to offer to work with you with the addition of a fee of £40 per session. In fact I would be happy to accept couples on this basis as well those who can afford to self-fund.

It means I can no longer guarantee in-person treatment for individuals with BUPA insurance. However I have worked for as many as 4 years with those BUPA clients willing and able to work online with me.
